A lot of romantic comedies follow the same exact storyline. Boy meets girl. Boy loses girl. Boy tries hard to get girl back. Nick and Norah's Infinite Playlist is no different. However this isn't necessarily a bad thing. This movie actually gets things right starting with it's cast. Michael Cera and Kat Dennings are hilarious and have perfect chemistry together. They hold the movie together and after watching it, you can't see anyone else playing the part. While the movie does change things from the novel, it's a great film.

After being broken up with, Nick (Michael Cera) is trying to get over his ex, Tris (Alexis Dziena). He decides to go with his band labeled The Jerk Offs, and play at clubs. That night, he plays at a club where he meets Norah (Kat Dennings) who also knows Tris. She doesn't know that Tris is Nick's ex so when she sees her coming, she asks Nick to pretend to be her boyfriend for the night to spite Tris who is her frenemy. That's when they find out that their favorite band is playing a secret concert somewhere in New York City. They decide to find the club however Nick's band decide to take Norah's best friend with them so Nick and Norah can get private time since they think that they are good together. Throughout the night, Nick and Norah bond while looking for the band and also looking for her best friend who managed to run away while extremely intoxicated.

Nick and Norah's Infinite Playlist works. Incredibly I might add. It's funny and dramatic. Director Peter Sollett balances the two greatly. It's a great coming-of-age film that teens will love. The soundtrack is awesome and the cast is fantastic. This is a rare case of a romantic comedy that actually works. Definitely worth a watch.
