With how huge Iron Man was, a sequel was inevitable. It was released about two years after the original with most of the cast returning. Terrence Howard, however, was replaced by Don Cheadle.
With the world now aware of his dual life as the armored superhero Iron Man, billionaire inventor Tony Stark faces pressure from the government, the press, and the public to share his technology with the military. Unwilling to let go of his invention, Stark, along with Pepper Potts, and James "Rhodey" Rhodes at his side, must forge new alliances - and confront powerful enemies.
I don't understand why Howard was replaced. I think he fits in the role as James Rhodes than Cheadle does. It is a good surprise, however, to see someone else don the Iron Man suit. This film has two main villians. The frontrunner Ivan Vanko who is played by Mickey Rourke. The behind the curtains villain is Justin Hammer who is played by Sam Rockwell. This film isn't better than the first. In fact it's not even in the top five of the whole Marvel Universe collection. It is nice to see Mickey Rourke take on Iron Man though. It is also cool to see just how many Iron Man suits Tony Stark had built (my personal favorite is the one used in the race track scene). It isn't the best in the collection but it certainly is enjoyable. Robert Downey Jr. brings his charm back and does a great job of keeping our attention on him.
