Marvel Studios brought to us Thor, the God of Thunder. With Thor, we leave Earth and see the beauty that is Asgard. Chris Hemsworth plays the God of Thunder while Natalie Portman plays his love interest, Jane Foster. Tom Hiddleston plays Loki, Idris Elba is Heimdall and Stellan Skarsgard plays Erik Selvig.

The warrior Thor (Chris Hemsworth) is cast out of the fantastic realm of Asgard by his father Odin (Anthony Hopkins) for his arrogance and sent to Earth to live among humans. Falling in love with scientist Jane Foster (Natalie Portman) teaches Thor much-needed lessons, and his new-found strength comes into play as a villain from his homeland sends dark forces toward Earth.

Thor isn't a bad movie. It does what it's supposed to and introduces the character. Hemsworth plays the character greatly with both humor and drama. Hiddleston also does good as Loki but you're left maybe wanting more from him. Kenneth Branagh directs beautifully. The film is full of breathtaking visuals and fantastic action. If you watch it in 3D however, it really brings down the film, especially since it originally wasn't supposed to be in 3D. Thor is one of Marvel's better origin stories that does the character justice. Definitely a worthy placement in the MCU.
