After years of teasing and easter eggs in Marvel's films, we get The Avengers. Iron Man, Thor, Captain America, and the Hulk all together to defeat evil. This is the first time a film has gathered superheroes and put them together (not including animated films or the Fantastic Four). The Avengers became the highest grossing film of 2012. With good reason too. It is such an action packed film filled with explosions, a plot, comedy, and a hulk.
Loki, the stepbrother of Thor, teams-up with the Chitauri Army and uses the Tesseract power to travel from Asgard to Earth to plot the invasion of Earth by the Chitauri and become the king of Earth. The director of the agency S.H.I.E.L.D Nick Fury sets in motion the project The Avengers, joining Tony Stark a.k.a. the Iron Man; Steve Rogers, a.k.a. Captain America; Bruce Banner, a.k.a. The Hulk; Thor; Natasha Romanoff, a.k.a. Black Widow; and Clint Barton, a.k.a. Hawkeye, to save the world from the powerful Loki and the alien invasion.
All of the team members have great chemistry. Marvel did a good job with replacing Edward Norton as the Hulk. Mark Ruffalo plays Bruce Banner with such an amazing performance. It's a wonder why he wasn't picked for The Incredible Hulk. Robert Downey Jr. is awesome as Tony Stark as always. Chris Evans still needs to prove himself to be worth being Captain America but is tons better than his previous film, and Chris Hemsworth plays a great Thor. The rest of the supporting cast is also fantastic. This truly is a super movie.
