Spectre Review

James Bond's 24th film is here. Spectre is Daniel Craig's fourth outing as the British superspy. Following Skyfall, Spectre ups the action and provides a servicable action film.

A cryptic message from James Bond's past sends him on a trail to uncover a sinister organization. While M battles political forces to keep the secret service alive, Bond peels back the layers of deceit to reveal the terrible truth behind SPECTRE.

Daniel Craig continues his fantastic performance as James Bond in Spectre. Readers beware, the film isn't better than Skyfall. But it is very close. Christoph Waltz's performance as classic Bond villain Ernst Stavro Blofeld is great. It is no surprise why Waltz is cast as villains in some of his films. He plays such an eerie quiet behind the curtains villain. In Craig's Bond series, he is the mastermind behind all of the things that hurts Bond, or as Blofeld himself puts it, "The author of all of his pain." Dave Bautista plays Blofeld's henchman who never speaks until his final scene. The film follows the typical James Bond formula but it's not necessarily a bad thing. The first scene takes place in Mexico's Day of the Dead celebration. It is an extravagant scene that helps set the tone for most of the film. The car chase scene between Bond and Bautista is great but seems a bit overlong. I found myself wondering when it was going to end, if it ever would. Ralph Fiennes, Ben Whishaw, and Naomie Harris all return as Mallory, Q, and Eve Moneypenny respectively. Lea Seydoux and Monica Bellucci join the cast as Bond girls. Bellucci doesn't have as big a part as Seydoux but she is still enjoyable Seydoux proves once again that she is a great actress that should be on everybody's radar. All in all, Spectre is a strong entrance in the Bond franchise, however it is best to watch all of Daniel Craig's Bond films before this one because this one manages to tie together all of them. Bond fans, keep your eyes open for Easter Eggs throughout the film, especially Bond's torture scene.
