Steve Jobs Review

I went in expecting a boring film. I didn't really like Ashton Kutcher's jOBS and I feel like Steve Jobs is looked at as a genius and that is it. In reality, Jobs was a deeply flawed human being and this film actually shows it. Basically, the film takes place in three scenes during different years and once in a while incorporates flashbacks to show key scenes in the past. While three scenes making up a two hour movie might sound like a stupid idea, with Aaron Sorkin's fantastic script, it works. Amazingly I might add. The performances are nothing short of fantastic. Michael Fassbender brings it again as the titular Steve Jobs and Seth Rogen is surprisingly effective with his performance as Steve Wozniak. Kate Winslet is great as always and it is nice to see Jeff Daniels appearing in more mainstream films.

Steve Jobs takes us behind the scenes of the digital revolution, to paint a portrait of the man at its epicenter. The story unfolds backstage at three iconic product launches, ending in 1998 with the unveiling of the iMac.

This film truly shows how Steve Jobs really was in real life. His earlier years, he rejected his daughter. This film shows Fassbender yelling at his ex that Lisa Brennan isn't his daughter. But it doesn't stop there. The first computer shown in the film is the LISA, and as Lisa is playing on the LISA she tells her mom that her daddy named the computer after her. Then Jobs takes a seat next to Lisa and asks her if she knows what a coincidence is. She (being six years old) says no so Jobs explains rudely how she is overthinking it and the computer isn't named after her. Then he adds that he isn't her father and the film goes on. The pacing in the film is phenomenal. An hour passed and it felt like half of that. Danny Boyle directs the film. He replaces David Fincher who left the project after asking for too high of a salary. The film bombed at the box office but hopefully more people will watch it when it comes out on home video. I have recommended the film so many times that I cannot even remember who I recommended it to. This is a must watch and definitely one of the best films of 2015.
