In 2010, Mark Wahlberg and Will Ferrell teamed up under the direction of Adam McKay in The Other Guys which was well received and proved to many who were scratching their heads over the pairing of the two that they have great chemistry. This time, Wahlberg and Ferrell are under the direction of Sean Anders who directed Horrible Bosses 2, and as in The Other Guys, they play polar opposites.
Stepdad, Brad Whitaker (Ferrell), is a radio host trying to get his stepchildren to love him and call him Dad. But his plans turn upside down when the biological father, Dusty Mayron (Mark Wahlberg), returns to win back Whitaker's wife and his children.
Daddy's Home is not a film to be taken seriously. It is a simple comedy movie that puts its two leads against each other. Unlike other PG-13 comedy films, the film rarely pushes the limits on its sexual jokes and innuendo. It does, just not as much as you would think from a Will Ferrell film. It is a funny and heartwarming film and the last scene will have you in pieces after laughing so much.
